L&T Technology Services has announced its collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support global automotive manufacturers in transitioning towards Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs) through the implementation of generative artificial intelligence (AI).
By harnessing AWS, the cloud platform, LTTS is facilitating the development of next-generation SDVs for vehicle manufacturers. This effort includes tailoring safety and security solutions that encompass digital cockpit, connected services, and autonomous driving, as per an official statement.
One significant achievement of LTTS has been its ability to reduce the time to market for new products by 25% by utilizing virtual workbenches on AWS. These workbenches are employed for the development and testing of new software intended for vehicle electronic control units (ECUs), which play a crucial role in overseeing a car’s operations.
SDVs place considerable emphasis on software to manage and control various aspects of their operations, including performance and comfort. They rely on sensors and computer systems to enhance safety and efficiency while driving.
These digitally-enabled vehicles have the potential to bring substantial improvements in safety, security, entertainment, and convenience. This is achieved through over-the-air (OTA) software updates from the cloud, enabling vehicle owners to continuously enhance the value and features of their automobiles.
Alind Saxena, President, Sales, and Whole Time Director at LTTS, expressed the transformative potential of generative AI for the automotive sector. He emphasized that their partnership with AWS allows them to rapidly innovate and enhance mobility for their customers. Furthermore, LTTS is dedicated to training 1,000 engineers in generative AI with AWS by March 2024, thereby ensuring that cutting-edge technology and the brightest minds contribute to shaping the future of mobility.
Vaishali Kasture, Director (Commercial Sales) of AWS India and South Asia at Amazon Web Services India, underlined the pivotal role of cloud technologies and artificial intelligence in driving the modernization of India’s automotive industry. These technologies are shaping a future where smart, connected vehicles are the norm, propelling the sector towards innovation and connectivity.
