Siemens, a major player in industrial manufacturing, and Microsoft, the tech giant, have officially united their strengths to bring the advantages of generative AI to industries worldwide. The outcome of this collaboration is Siemens Industrial Copilot, an AI-powered assistant designed to enhance human-machine cooperation in the realm of manufacturing.
According to Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft, the development of this new tool is a culmination of the long-standing partnership between Microsoft and Siemens. The collaboration marries Microsoft Cloud’s AI advancements with Siemens’ deep industrial domain expertise, with the goal of empowering both frontline and knowledge workers through innovative AI-driven solutions, starting with Siemens Industrial Copilot.
Siemens Industrial Copilot is poised to enable users to swiftly generate, optimize, and debug intricate automation code. This advancement will dramatically reduce simulation times, transforming tasks that previously took weeks into mere minutes.
Roland Busch, CEO of Siemens AG, emphasized that this partnership has the potential to revolutionize the way companies approach design, manufacturing, development, and operations. Facilitating human-machine collaboration will enable engineers to expedite code development, foster innovation, and address the challenges posed by labor shortages.
Both companies envision AI copilots supporting professionals across various sectors, including manufacturing, transportation, infrastructure, and healthcare. The initial applications of these copilots are planned for the manufacturing sector, encompassing consumer packaged goods, automotive, and machine building.
The announcement also revealed that Schaeffler AG, a leading automotive supplier, is among the early adopters of Siemens Industrial Copilot.
Furthermore, Siemens disclosed that the Siemens Teamcenter app for Microsoft Teams will be widely available in December 2023, contributing to the acceleration of innovation throughout the product lifecycle. This app harnesses the latest generative AI advancements to facilitate seamless communication between functions involved in product design and manufacturing, bridging the gap from frontline workers to engineering teams.
