.Oracle, the Texas-based technology giant, is intensifying its investments in artificial intelligence (AI) in India, aiming to facilitate the scaling of AI and generative AI (GenAI) capabilities for enterprises. Chris Chelliah, the Senior Vice President of Technology and Customer Strategy for Oracle Japan and Asia Pacific, highlighted the company’s comprehensive approach to AI deployment across various layers of the enterprise stack. Speaking at the Oracle Data & AI Forum in Bengaluru, Chelliah emphasized Oracle’s commitment to integrating AI into Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications, AI services, data, and infrastructure.

At the heart of Oracle’s AI push is Oracle Database 23ai, the latest iteration of Oracle’s converged database. This release underscores Oracle’s strategic focus on AI integration, incorporating features like Oracle AI Vector Search alongside over 300 additional enhancements. These enhancements are geared towards streamlining AI utilization with data, expediting application development, and supporting mission-critical workloads.

The introduction of AI Vector Search capabilities allows customers to seamlessly integrate searches for diverse data types, such as documents and images, with searches on private business data. This integration occurs without the need to relocate or duplicate data, as AI algorithms operate directly within Oracle databases. This real-time execution of AI within databases significantly enhances the efficiency, effectiveness, and security of AI applications.

Juan Loaiza, Executive Vice President of Mission-Critical Database Technologies at Oracle, hailed Oracle Database 23ai as a transformative milestone for enterprises worldwide. Given the groundbreaking AI technology embedded in this release, Oracle has rebranded it as Oracle Database 23ai.

Oracle’s robust financial performance in its third quarter reflects its strategic emphasis on cloud services, including infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and SaaS offerings. With cloud revenue reaching $5.1 billion, marking a 24% increase in constant currency, and total revenue climbing 7% in constant currency to $13.3 billion, Oracle continues to demonstrate strong growth momentum.

In alignment with its global AI expansion strategy, Oracle plans to invest approximately $10 billion in data center expansion initiatives. With 68 customer-facing Cloud regions already operational, including two launched this year, Oracle is poised to further strengthen its AI capabilities and infrastructure on a global scale.
