At the helm of this initiative are the BJP’s poll managers and strategists, who recognize the importance of effective communication in reaching out to voters across language divides. Bhashini, embedded within the Namo mobile app, serves as a conduit for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speeches, allowing audiences to listen to his Hindi addresses in their respective state languages in real-time.
The genesis of this homegrown AI-enabled tool traces back to its debut at the Kashi Tamil Sangamam in Varanasi last December. Prime Minister Modi hailed it as a “new beginning” in his efforts to connect with non-Hindi speakers, signaling the BJP’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in its communication strategies. The positive reception from the audience, who experienced a Tamil translation of Modi’s speech in real-time, underscored the tool’s potential as a game-changer in political outreach.
Since its introduction, Bhashini has facilitated the translation of Modi’s speeches into over a dozen Indian languages, including Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Odia, Bengali, Marathi, and Punjabi.
